One of Fathom’s more entertaining projects was creating 3D printed guitar parts. Our drive for innovation compels us to enhance manufacturing at every turn. In this project, our design specifically met the needs of the customer while reimagining what manufacturing could be. The design for the tailpiece was inspired by the front grill of a 1937 Delahaye 135MS Roadster. Two versions of this part were created, one was printed using additive technology while the other utilized a mix of 3D printing and traditional methods. This project illustrates how 3D printing processes can enhance traditional fabrication processes to create parts that are better suited for end-use than traditional processes alone.
