Color 3D Printing Services

Fathom Digital Manufacturing offers variety of color 3D printing services that area ideal for prototyping, presentations, advance marketing and even solutions for low- to mid-volume production. Fathom also offers 3D printing solutions for low volume production that rivals the strength, speed, and durability of injection molding. Our color 3D printing capabilities produce parts in over 500,000 colors, textures, gradients, and transparencies. A variety of plastic materials can produce parts with a range of physical characteristics, from soft and rubbery, to hard and stiff. Prototypes can be created with to mimic the look, feel, and function of the final products. New technology even allows Fathom to produce 3D printed parts on demand that are comparable in quality to parts made with injection molding

Multiple Colors and Materials – The Cutting Edge of 3D Printing

Fathom has entered into an exclusive agreement with Evolve Additive Solutions. The agreement gives Fathom the opportunity to offer its customers access to the Evolve Scaled Volume Production™ (SVP) system. The Evolve SVP™ is the first 3D printing machine to feature the revolutionary Selective Thermoplastic Electrophotographic Process (STEP). This process combines the speed and agility of 3D printing with the robust durability and manufacturing capability of injection molding. The Evolve SVP™ is capable of full color 3D printing service with the same materials used in conventional manufacturing processes like injection molding. The system is so advanced it can print parts with multiple colors and types of materials at the same time.

Other Types of 3D Printing

Fathom offers a variety of custom color 3D printing technologies to meet every budget and time line. Additive manufacturing technologies include Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), PolyJet, Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), Stereolithography (SLA), Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) and Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS). What are the Advantages of Color 3D Printing?

Speed and design flexibility are the two major advantages of color 3D printing. 3D printing can produce parts that are ready for use in a matter of hours, unlike traditional manufacturing processes that may take weeks to set up. Design changes are easy to implement and execute by simply editing the Computer Aided Design (CAD) file. Color 3D printing produces a part that is ready, or nearly ready, for use without the hassle of secondary processing. Color 3D printing allows customers to skip time consuming steps like painting, sanding, and even assembly. Text, logos, and labels can be incorporated directly into to the design.

How Do You Color a 3D Printed Part?

3D printed parts obtain there color is a variety of ways, depending on the printing platform that has been selected. Raw material can be dyed before use or color may be added during the printing process. Prototypes can also be created using any combination of rigid, flexible, transparent, or opaque materials.

High-resolution, realistic 3D-printed models can be created that allow for complex geometries with detailed features. Color 3D printed parts have excellent visual properties with good surface quality.
